Vinesh Phogat Makes History: Paris Olympics 2024 Final
Vinesh Phogat just made history at the Paris Olympics 2024. Her recent victory in the semifinal of the women’s 50kg wrestling event has guaranteed her a medal and secured her place in the gold-medal match. This marks a historic moment for Vinesh Phogat as she becomes the first Indian woman to reach an Olympic wrestling final. And only the second Indian woman wrestler, after Sakshi Malik, to win a medal at the Games.
Vinesh’s journey to this historic achievement has been remarkable. She won her semifinal match against Cuba’s Yusneylis Guzman with a decisive 5-0 score. Her path to the final included overcoming defending champion Yui Susaki of Japan and Ukraine’s Oksana Livach on the same day! Vinesh started strong by scoring a point through passivity in the first round. She used a passivity warning in the second round to secure four additional points.

This medal is a significant triumph for Vinesh Phogat, who faced setbacks in previous Olympics. Injuries in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, coupled with her involvement in the wrestlers’ protest, challenged her, but she has now made history at the Olympic Games.
Neeraj Chopra also impressed by qualifying for the men’s javelin final with a spectacular throw of 89.34m. While the men’s table tennis team faced a setback, losing to China in the pre-quarterfinals.
As Vinesh Phogat creates history at the Paris Olympics 2024, let’s rally behind her and support her quest for gold. We encourage everyone to stay tuned for more updates and continue cheering for our athletes.
